Krzysztof Chlebus, M.D., Ph.D., D.Sc. of the 1st Department of Cardiology at the Medical University of Gdańsk has been appointed national leader of the Lipid Clinic Network (LCN) in Poland. The appointment was made by the European Society of Atherosclerosis (EAS).
The Lipid Clinic Network is a global initiative bringing together clinics and specialists involved in the diagnosis and treatment of lipid disorders across diverse healthcare systems. The EAS Lipid Clinic Network serves as a platform for international collaboration aimed at harmonising standards of clinical care, implementing current ESC/EAS guidelines, and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the management of dyslipidaemia and cardiovascular complications. The network currently operates in several dozen countries across all continents, where designated national leaders support the development of specialised lipid services and coordinate educational and scientific activities within their respective communities.
Drawing upon ESC/EAS guidelines, EAS consensus statements, and other key scientific publications, the EAS-LCN promotes the translation of the latest scientific evidence into clinical practice, while allowing adaptation to national and local healthcare frameworks.
As a national leader, Krzysztof Chlebus, M.D., Ph.D., D.Sc. will be responsible for coordinating collaboration between Polish centres and the international LCN community, promoting high standards of care for patients with lipid disorders and actively participating in global educational and research initiatives.
This appointment underscores the commitment of the National Centre for Familial Hypercholesterolaemia in Gdańsk to advancing lipidology worldwide and opens new opportunities for strategic cooperation, integration of clinical research and the implementation of innovative care models for patients with dyslipidaemia in Poland.
