The Medical University of Gdańsk (MUG) is a modern academic centre recognisable on a national and international scale. It has been providing high quality education in all medical professions and conducting world-class scientific research.
The MUG has been acknowledged as the member of an elite group of the best 10 Polish universities awarded in the prestigious Excellence Initiative – Research University competition.
It is one of only a few Polish universities to be recognised in four major academic rankings, i.e. Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), QS World University Rankings, THE World University Rankings, and U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings. Following the path of sustainable development, the MUG has also been featured in the prestigious THE Impact Rankings. The University also places great importance on supporting students and fostering the integration of its international community, which is a vital part of the academia. Key MUG facilities include the Centre of Medical Simulations, Sport Centre, and the buildings of the Invasive and Non-Invasive Medicine Centres, which form a unique medical and scientific complex on an European scale. On 8th October 2025, a new building for the University Dental Centre was officially commissioned, serving as a scientific, research, and teaching base. It will be followed by the immediate completion of the Paediatric Medicine Centre.
