The 6th Gdańsk Health Days at the MUG – exploring health from multiple perspectives

Interdisciplinary knowledge exchange, current challenges in healthcare, and the active involvement of young researchers – this is how one might summarise the 6th edition of the Gdańsk Health Days, which brought together nearly 300 participants interested in the topics of modern medicine and healthcare management.

The scientific conference was organised by the Interdisciplinary Healthcare Management Student Research Society at the Medical University of Gdańsk and took place on 16th–17th April 2026. The event is a continuation of a regular initiative bringing together students, PhD candidates, specialists, and secondary school pupils to discuss issues related to healthcare.

The official opening was conducted by the chairwoman of the IZOZ Student Scientific Circle, Amelia Kleinschmidt. Participants were also welcomed by the Club’s supervisors: Assoc. Prof. Marlena Robakowska, Ph.D., D.Sc. and Prof. Edyta Szurowska, Head of the 2nd Department of Radiology. Among the invited guests of honour, the following also took to the stage: Prof. Agnieszka Zimmermann, Vice-Rector for Education at the MUG, Prof. Michał Hoffmann, Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs, Prof. Przemysław Rutkowski, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences with the Institute of Maritime and Tropical Medicine, Prof. Waldemar Tłokiński, Rector of the Ateneum Academy in Gdańsk, Jakub Kraszewski, Ph.D., Executive Director of the University Clinical Centre, the MUG Hospital, and Katarzyna Zygmunt, Director of the Daniel Fahrenheit Association of Universities in Gdańsk.

The first day of the conference was held in person at the Prof. Zdzisław Kieturakis Auditorium on the premises of the University Clinical Centre, the MUG Hospital. The programme included thematic panels devoted to, amongst others, endometriosis, a systemic approach to health promotion, the development of career paths in the medical sector, and the relationship between mental health and the functioning of the digestive system. Participants were also able to make use of a networking zone featuring HR specialists in the various medical fields.

The second day of the event was held online. It featured sessions on the One Health concept and the Young Scientists panel.

The conference provided an opportunity to discuss the future directions of modern medicine and healthcare. At the same time, it created a space for community building and the exchange of experiences among.
