Alicja Sadowska-Klasa, M.D., Ph.D. from the Department of Haematology and Transplantology represented the Medical University of Gdańsk during the 24th meeting of the Immunocompromised Host Society (ICHS), held in Houston, United States. The event brought together infectious disease specialists from around the world and provided a forum for presenting the latest research advances, innovative models of care and management strategies for immunocompromised patients.
During the conference, the results of the studies Outcome of CMV Pneumonia After Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation in the Era of Modern Transplantation and CMV Prevention Practices and Risk Stratification System for CMV Monitoring After Autologous Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation were presented. Both studies were conducted in collaboration with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, United States.
The presentation concerning cytomegalovirus pneumonia following haematopoietic cell transplantation was recognised by the competition committee. The work was selected among the ten best presentations of the conference and received the Top Poster Award, together with a travel grant.
