The Medical University of Gdańsk has once again been included in the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2026 in the area of Medical & Health – a ranking of the world’s leading universities in medicine, clinical sciences, and health. This ranking covers approximately 1,230 institutions from over 102 countries, assessed across 18 performance indicators grouped into five key pillars: teaching, research quality, research environment, international outlook, and industry collaboration.
In this year’s edition, the Medical University of Gdańsk was placed within the group of world-class universities, which in itself is a significant distinction. MUG ranked in the 601–800 range in the Medical & Health subject ranking. This result positions it as the third-leading medical university in Poland.
This achievement highlights the consistent development of the MUG in research, teaching, and international collaboration. The indicators used by Times Higher Education include, among others, citation impact of scientific publications, teaching reputation, research environment, and collaboration with external partners. The university’s inclusion in this classification confirms its solid performance across all evaluated areas.
At the national level, the MUG maintains its position among the most recognized medical universities in Poland, competing in both general and specialized rankings with other leading institutions such as the Wrocław Medical University, the Medical University of Łódź and the Jagiellonian University.
