Recruitment timeframe
- The interview for admission to the doctoral school is conducted in either English or Polish, at the candidate’s choice;
- candidates are required to pay a recruitment fee in the amount of PLN 200. Failure to pay the fee by the deadline for electronic registration of candidates will result in non-admission of the candidate to the recruitment process. the recruitment fee is not refundable;
- the prequalification interview will be conducted remotely (via MS Teams). Candidates will be provided with login information before the interview. Technical equipment in the form of a computer, camera, microphone and a good and stable Internet connection is required.
Electronic registration is carried out in 3-4 steps
- Account registration with photo attachment;
- filling in the form;
- payment of the recruitment fee;
- uploading the required files to the system, if applicable, i.e.:
- application to the Chairperson of the Recruitment Committee for admission to recruitment (in the case
of a candidate applying for admission to the Doctoral School under Article 186(2) of the Law – that is, candidates before a Master’s degree, but with a high-quality academic achievements); - application to the Chairperson of the Recruitment Committee for adaptation of the prequalification interview format to candidate’s disability (in the case of a candidate with a disability, if he/she intends to apply for such adaptation).

Failure to comply with the requirements for electronic registration will result in the rejection of the candidate’s application in recruitment process. - commitment to provide the financial resources necessary to complete the proposed research project;
- indication of the place of performance of vocational practical training;

- the candidate’s CV containing his/her signature. In the event of a change of name, if some of the documents submitted were issued to the previous name, a document confirming the change of name must be attached to the CV;

- Consent of the cooperating unit, if the cooperation is planned and necessary for the project implementation:
- An official copy of the diploma confirming the award of the professional title of Master (magister), Master of Engineering (magister inżynier), or an equivalent degree; or, in the case of candidates referred to in Article 186(2) of the Act, a diploma confirming completion of first-cycle studies or a certificate issued by the relevant university dean’s office confirming completion of the third year of long-cycle Master’s studies, provided that:
a) if the candidate is still awaiting issuance of the diploma, a certificate issued by the relevant dean’s office of the university at which the candidate obtained the qualification is required, confirming the award of the professional title of Master or an equivalent degree and the final result of the studies; after admission to the Doctoral School, a copy of the diploma must be submitted without delay;
b) in the case of graduation from a foreign higher education institution, a diploma confirming completion of studies abroad is required, granting the right to apply for the award of a doctoral degree in the country whose higher education system includes the institution that issued the diploma. The diploma must be legalized or bear an Apostille (this applies to every diploma subject to paragraph 3), together with written information concerning that diploma issued by the Director of NAWA, referred to in Article 326(4) of the Act Additional Notes section;
- A copy of the diploma supplement; if the candidate does not possess a diploma supplement or if the diploma supplement does not contain information on the grade point average, a certificate indicating the average grade obtained during the course of studies, issued by the higher education institution at which the candidate completed the studies that qualify them to apply for admission to the Doctoral School;
- Documents evidencing the candidate’s achievements scored in accordance with the scoring system defined in Attachment No. 1:

- One photograph satisfying the requirements valid for identity cards:
- Language certificate or diploma, in the event the candidate intends to evidence his/her command of the English language with a respective certificate or diploma compliant with the requirements of the MUG Foreign Language Study Centre (list of accepted certificates and diplomas below);
- In the case of candidates who are foreigners, a certified copy of their identity document;
- Only documents issued in Polish or English are accepted in the recruitment process. In the case of documents issued in other languages, a sworn translation into polish or english is required to be attached to this document;
- in special cases, with the approval of the chairperson of the recruitment committee, a candidate may provide the documents referred to in point 8 on a date other than that established for documents submission stage, but no later than the date of the prequalification interview (does not apply to certificates from the Dean’s Office);
- candidates residing outside the Republic of Poland can submit their documentation in the form of scans. In case of admission to the Doctoral School, the originals of these documents should be submitted to the Doctoral Students Office immediately after arrival in the Republic of Poland.

- Presence of the candidate’s academic tutor is mandatory during the candidate’s interview. In case the academic tutor cannot attend the candidate’s prequalification interview, it is required to appoint a deputy who must provide
a written authorisation issued by the candidate’s academic tutor. The authorisation must be presented
in the Doctoral Students Office or to the Recruitment Committee.

- Additional notes
The requirements for supervisors are specified in § 31 of the Regulations of the First Doctoral School:
- The function of the supervisor may be entrusted to the holder of at least the academic degree of doctor habilitated in the specific discipline or any related discipline of science the doctoral dissertation concerns, and having a record of scientific output published over the last 5 years, who agrees to the mentoring of the doctoral student, subject to section 190(5) and 190(6) of the Act of Law;
- he function of the supervisor cannot be entrusted to anyone who, over the recent 5 years: 1) has supervised 4 doctoral students who were struck off the list of doctoral students because of the negative result of mid-term assessment, or who 2) has supervised the preparation of the dissertation by at least 2 persons aspiring to the doctoral degree who failed to obtain positive reviews (...);
- the function of the assistant supervisor, who performs an important supporting function in the supervision of a doctoral student, in particular in the process of research planning, implementation and analysis of results, may be entrusted to the holder of at least the academic degree of doctor in the specific discipline or any related discipline of science the doctoral dissertation concerns;
- no academic teacher or member of the research staff can be the supervisor of no more than 3 doctoral students of the Doctoral School at a time. The limit can be increased on consent from the Doctoral School Director, provided external financing for doctoral scholarships is obtained;
- the function of the supervisor can be taken up by an academic teacher or member of the research staff of the University, who meets the prerequisites of the binding regulations, subject to section 190(5) and 190(6) of the Act of Law. In the event 2 supervisors are appointed, at least one of them must be employed at the University at the time he/she is appointed to perform the function of the supervisor.
- In order to confirm the candidate’s identity during an interview or an English language exam, the candidate may be asked to present an identity document;
- the holder of a diploma issued abroad (§ 6(1)(7b) of the Recruitment Resolution) must apply to NAWA to obtain information on its recognisability.
Note: NAWA responds to the issuance of foreign diploma information within 60 days. However, due to the huge number of applications, the processing time may be extended and exceed 60 days.
