Following its inaugural concert, the orchestra continued its activity with performances including a Christmas carol concert for patients at the University Clinical Centre (UCC), held in the lobby of the Non-Invasive Medicine Centre. The ensemble has also participated in charitable events, such as the Spring Smile concert.
About the MUG Chamber Orchestra
At the beginning of the 2019/2020 academic year, the orchestra performed during the matriculation ceremonies of the Faculty of Medicine (English Division) and the Faculty of Health Sciences. In October, it contributed to a parish celebration in Żabianka, Gdańsk, and in November 2019 provided musical accompaniment for the graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Medicine. During the summer of 2019, selected members took part in rehearsals and concerts as part of the SlotArt Festival in Wrocław.
In 2020, the orchestra performed again at the charitable Concert under the Winter Star. After a brief hiatus, the ensemble resumed its activities in the 2022/2023 academic year, which was marked by numerous performances. These included three Christmas concerts in the first semester and, in the second semester, concerts featuring Irish and French music, as well as performances during the University Open Day and a family picnic for staff. Members also participated in workshops with the Gdańsk Academic Orchestra. In subsequent years, the orchestra has regularly contributed to major University events, including inauguration ceremonies of the academic year and graduation ceremonies, and has organised Christmas concerts for patients and healthcare staff.
Since 2024, the orchestra has been conducted by Wojciech Kubik. The ensemble remains open and inclusive, welcoming participants at all levels of musical experience and across a wide range of instruments. New members may join at any time throughout the year.
