The Medical University of Gdańsk has achieved a significant success in the latest edition of the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2025, published by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy. The University advanced in the category Clinical Medicine to the 301–400 band, thereby reaching joint 3rd place among Polish academic institutions.
After many years in the 401–500 group, the MUG recorded notable progress across the majority of assessed indicators, resulting in its promotion to a higher ranking band. Particularly impressive is the improvement in the World Class Faculty category, which encompasses:
– international scientific awards (International Award Laureates),
– representation among Highly Cited Researchers,
– roles as chief editors of international academic journals,
– leadership positions in global academic organizations.
In this category, MUG increased its score from 3.8 to 15.2, marking one of the University’s strongest results in its ranking history.
The advancement in GRAS 2025 confirms the quality of our research and the strength of our academic community, as well as the effects of consistent, long-term development, emphasises Prof. Anna Żaczek, Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation. It is also an important sign that the MUG is increasingly present in the global scientific arena and continues to build its international visibility effectively.
As a leading research and teaching institution in the field of medical and health sciences, the Medical University of Gdańsk further strengthens its position among the world’s top academic medical centres.
