More than 80 educational attractions, a science stage, themed activity zones, and preventive health screenings – the 5th Fahrenheit Science Picnic is approaching, bringing science beyond university walls and laboratories through interactive experiences, discovery, and entertainment for all ages. The Fahrenheit Universities invite visitors to Góra Gradowa on 24th May. Admission is free.
Regardless of age or interests, everyone will find something engaging. The science village itself, comprising 67 educational stands, offers a wide range of activities designed to present science through hands-on experiences and interactive learning. Enthusiasts from the worlds of science and academia will introduce visitors to topics spanning the exact sciences – including robotics – medicine, biological sciences, and the humanities. As every year, educators from the Medical University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology, and the University of Gdańsk have prepared a rich programme of demonstrations, workshops, and educational games.
Participants will also be able to enjoy the main science stage programme, themed zones, and activities prepared by the event’s partners.
The programme of the 5th Fahrenheit Science Picnic includes, among others:
five hours of scientific demonstrations, presentations, and discussions on the main stage, including a theatrical performance and a zero-waste fashion show,
67 educational stands featuring activities prepared by educators from the MUG, Gdańsk Tech, and the University of Gdańsk,
partner islands located across the upper and lower areas of Hevelianum, offering attractions such as robotics activities, virtual journeys through a nuclear reactor, gravity-powered races and remote-controlled Formula 1 models, road safety simulators, and workshops dedicated to offshore technologies and renewable energy sources,
preventive health screenings and diagnostic tests available on site,
activities for children in the toddler zone, including readings of a children’s book promoting healthy eating habits (free copies will be available to take home),
sports activities and stretching workshops,
nature walks.
Further information and the full programme are available on the event website.
We warmly invite everyone who enjoys asking questions, experimenting, exploring, and discovering what is fascinating, unexpected, and inspiring.
The Fahrenheit Science Picnic was established as a joint initiative of the Fahrenheit Universities and has been organised in cooperation with Hevelianum for five consecutive years. Its aim is to inspire curiosity, strengthen public engagement with science, and present scientific research in an accessible, interactive, and engaging manner to both younger and adult audiences.
Important information:
Visitors are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles; drinking water stations and carbonation dispensers will be available on site.
The upper and lower Hevelianum car parks will remain closed from 22nd to 24th May, and Gradowa street will be closed to vehicular traffic.
The organisers reserve the right to modify the programme in the event of adverse weather conditions.
