What to do if you have a complaint?

When you come to Poland as an international student, you can expect to receive a high standard of education, and to feel safe and well cared for while you live and study here. If you have a complaint, it is important that you go through the right steps. Here is what you need to do.

Ask your University to resolve your complaint.

The University is your first point of contact for any complaint you have. It will give you information about the complaint process. You can submit your complaint query at prorektor.student@gumed.edu.pl.

If your complaint is not resolved – contact Ministry of Health or Ministry of Education and Science via www.mein.gov.pl or www.mz.gov.pl websites.

Ministry is a government institution and although can’t assess your complaint, can disccipline the University to do investigation of your concerns. Ministry can also advise you what you can do next.

Additionally you can contact the Student Ombudsman.

The Student Ombudsman operates as part of the Students’ Parliament of the Republic of Poland and intervenes in cases of violations of students’ rights at universities, as well as conducts many preventive activities to increase awareness of students’ rights and qualifications. The Ombudsman for Student Rights is Mateusz Kuliński. If you need help or advice, you can contact the Ombudsman through the Office of the Student Ombudsman: helpdesk.psrp.org.pl. There is no cost to you for this service.

Mission and Statute

Modern education + research = for health and the development of medicine

Mission and Statute

Modern education and research for health and the development of medicine.

The mission is a general statement of the sense of action, the reason for the existence and development of the organisation. It shows the purpose for which the organisation was established and what value it brings to its environment.

Vision of the MUG in 2025:

We are the leading medical university in the country and recognisable in the world, providing high quality education and research.

We care about health and the development of medicine thanks to our graduates, employees and partners.

We make up a modern and efficient organisation, inspiring students, doctoral students and employees to engage and develop.

The vision is an image of the organisation in the future; it shows employees and external stakeholders the direction in which the organisation is heading. Achieving the vision will be possible through reaching objectives and endorsing strategic initiatives, which are described in the following chapter. However, the way in which they are endorsed is also important, i.e. what values we will be driven by on a daily basis. Naturally, the MUG’s culture derives primarily from timeless academic values, such as the search for truth, tolerance, justice and love of freedom.

Departments are the basic units of the Medical University of Gdańsk (MUG). The departments are managed by Deans, who supervise employees employed in the particular department. Department Councils are units responsible for passing resolutions. They create the main directions for the development and activities of a department.

Our University educates over 6000 students in four faculties: the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology (Gdańsk University and Medical University of Gdansk).
