Dear Colleagues, Dear International Students of the Medical University of Gdańsk,
it is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Poland, to Gdańsk, and to our academic community. We sincerely thank you for your trust and for choosing the Medical University of Gdańsk. We hope that your time at our University will be marked by meaningful and productive study, academic achievement, enriching relationships, and lasting memories.
Many of you have travelled considerable distances, leaving behind your families and friends in your home countries. For many, Poland represents not only a new environment but also one that may differ significantly in terms of language, culture, and climate. We fully recognise the determination and courage required to embark on this journey.
We encourage you to remain optimistic and to view challenges as valuable opportunities for growth and learning. Do not be discouraged by setbacks; rather, approach them with resilience and perseverance. We strongly encourage you to build meaningful relationships with your peers, to support one another, and to engage actively in collaborative learning. Participation in student organisations, academic societies, and University events – whether cultural, sporting, or charitable – will further enrich your academic experience.
Please also remember to take care of your wellbeing. Adequate rest, a balanced diet, and regular physical activity are essential components of a healthy and successful student life. Strive to maintain an appropriate balance between academic responsibilities and personal time. Our academic staff remain at your disposal to support your learning and guide you through the complexities of your chosen disciplines. Likewise, our administrative units – including the Welcome Point, the International Relations Office, and the Dean’s Offices – are committed to ensuring that you feel safe, supported, and comfortable in your new environment.
We hope that the Medical University of Gdańsk will become a place where you can fully explore the world of medical sciences – a community grounded in mutual respect, equality, and openness, where values such as kindness, trust, tolerance, and understanding are not only upheld but actively practised, fostering personal growth and a strong sense of belonging.
We also warmly encourage you to share your cultures, traditions, languages, music, cuisine, and artistic expressions with us. At the Medical University of Gdańsk, we deeply value diversity and sincerely appreciate your contribution to making our University an even more open, vibrant, and inspiring academic community.
