Gdańsk will host the 35th Congress of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH). One of the key contributors to bringing the event to the city is Prof. Krzysztof Narkiewicz, Head of the Department of Hypertension and Diabetology at the Medical University of Gdańsk and President of the Society in 2009–2011.

The annual congress of the European Society of Hypertension is one of the most important scientific events in Europe in the fields of hypertension and cardiovascular medicine. Its international significance is reflected in the fact that it brings together thousands of clinicians, researchers and experts from around the world each year. This year, from 28th to 31st May, the Congress will be held in Poland for the first time.

Narkiewicz

A pivotal role in securing Gdańsk as the host city was played by Prof. Narkiewicz, a globally recognised expert in hypertension who has been actively involved in the structures of the European Society of Hypertension for many years. His engagement and international scientific achievements were instrumental in bringing this year’s Congress to Gdańsk.

Hosting such a prestigious congress in Gdańsk is both a great honour and a significant responsibility. For several days, we will become the centre of European and global hypertension research, where future directions of the field are defined and discussed. I am pleased that we will be able to welcome leading experts to Poland and create a platform for the exchange of knowledge, experience and the development of new international partnerships, said Prof. Krzysztof Narkiewicz. I also regard this as a recognition of the achievements of Polish cardiovascular medicine.

The organisers have published the scientific programme of the Congress, which this year focuses on innovation while highlighting the growing importance of an integrated approach to hypertension, cardiovascular diseases and metabolic disorders. The event will feature plenary sessions with leading experts, panel discussions on the latest clinical guidelines, and practical workshops for clinicians. It will also include sessions in which researchers from across Europe will present the results of their latest studies. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to explore digital health solutions supporting patient care in a dedicated technology zone.

The 35th Congress of the European Society of Hypertension has been granted the Honorary Patronage of the Rector of the Medical University of Gdańsk and media patronage of TVP Nauka.
