The Medical University of Gdańsk has once again confirmed its strong position on the international stage. In the latest edition of the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, MUG is the only Polish medical university included in the prestigious ranking assessing higher education institutions’ commitment to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
A particular reason for pride is the University’s advancement in all key areas contributing to the final ranking result. MUG achieved its highest score in Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), placing among the top 101–200 universities worldwide out of more than 1,200 ranked institutions and taking 1st place among Polish research institutions implementing this Goal. This is a clear confirmation of the high quality of the research, teaching and clinical activity carried out by the MUG academic community.
Significant progress was also recorded in areas related to equality, reducing social inequalities and building international partnerships. High scores in innovation and cooperation with the socio-economic environment demonstrate that MUG effectively combines the advancement of science with a tangible impact on society and the economy.
The advancement of the Medical University of Gdańsk across all key areas assessed in the THE Impact Ratings 2026 shows that we are consistently strengthening our position as a socially responsible, research-oriented university open to cooperation. We are particularly pleased with the high assessment in health and quality of life, as it confirms that MUG’s research, teaching and clinical activity provides a measurable response to the most important challenges of the contemporary world, says Prof. Anna Żaczek, Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation.
The results achieved are further evidence that the Medical University of Gdańsk is consistently implementing its strategy as a modern research university responding to the most important challenges of the contemporary world. International recognition of MUG’s activities confirms that the University not only educates future leaders in healthcare, but also actively contributes to the development of solutions aimed at improving the quality of life and health of societies.
The success in the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, including 1st place among Polish medical universities, together with the MUG’s strong position in the Times Higher Education subject rankings, further strengthens the University’s brand as one of the most dynamically developing medical universities in Poland and a recognised partner in the international scientific community.
