A graduation ceremony for the 2020–2026 class of the English-language medicine programme at the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical University of Gdańsk was held at the Polish Baltic Fryderyk Chopin Philharmonic in Gdańsk. The event was attended by 140 graduates, marking the formal completion of an important stage in their medical education.
The ceremony took place on 8th July 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Philharmonic, Ołowianka 1 street. The event was attended by representatives of the authorities of the Medical University of Gdańsk: Prof. Agnieszka Zimmermann, Vice-Rector for Education; Prof. Michał Hoffmann, Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Maria Bieniaszewska, M.D., Ph.D., D.Sc., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Aida Kusiak, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Assoc. Prof. Jarosław Jendrzejewski, M.D., Ph.D., D.Sc., Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Katarzyna Gobis, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; and Prof. Piotr Wąż, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The invited honorary guests included Prof. Michał Kaliszan, member of the Regional Medical Council in Gdańsk and Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine, as well as Jacek Kaczmarek, M.D. Ph.D., representative of the Alumni Association and International Alumni Relations Officer.
Addresses were delivered by representatives of the University authorities, the Faculty of Medicine and the invited guests. In their speeches, they emphasised the significance of completing medical studies, the responsibility associated with the medical profession and the ceremonial character of the occasion. Special words of congratulations were addressed to the graduates, together with wishes of success as they embark upon the next stage of their professional journey.
On behalf of the graduates, addresses were delivered by student year representative Abigail Kimber and Sara Dadadottir, who expressed their gratitude to academic teachers, the University authorities and all those who had supported the students throughout their years of study. Their speeches offered a reflection on the shared academic journey of the graduating class and on the conclusion of one of the most important stages of their education.
One of the most solemn moments of the ceremony was the taking of the physician’s oath by the graduates, followed by the presentation of diplomas. After the ceremony, congratulatory letters and gifts were presented to distinguished graduates on behalf of the Rector of the the MUG, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, the supervisor of the Paediatric Student Scientific Circle, the Physical Education and Sports Centre, and student organisations.
The ceremony concluded with a commemorative group photograph of the University authorities and the graduates.
