The Central Biobank provides comprehensive services related to the handling of biological samples, primarily in support of scientific projects and clinical studies conducted by researchers at the Medical University of Gdańsk. Our activities include the receipt and registration of biological material supplied by collaborating units, as well as its further processing in accordance with standard operating procedures, ensuring high quality and reproducibility of biobanking processes.
About the Central Biobank
Our infrastructure and the expertise of our team enable the safe and standardised management of biological material at every stage of the sample lifecycle, including secure and controlled long-term storage under low-temperature conditions. A temperature monitoring system installed within storage facilities and refrigeration equipment allows for continuous remote supervision of storage stability. In addition, alarm notifications enable rapid and effective responses in emergency situations, ensuring the integrity of stored samples.
Scientific collaboration
We support the MUG research teams in organising the process of biological sample collection. A well-structured electronic registry facilitates efficient collection management and enables rapid and precise localisation of individual samples.
Logistical and infrastructure support
The Central Biobank also provides logistical support related to the transport, processing and storage of biological material. We offer access to equipment that may be used within research projects.
Equipment and facilities
The laboratories in which biological material is processed are equipped with access control systems, environmental monitoring systems, oxygen and carbon dioxide detection sensors, and flood detection systems.
