CULTUREWISE: Intercultural Skills for a European Campus
A practical programme designed to develop the skills needed to work, study and collaborate effectively in an international and multicultural academic environment.

The workshops will be delivered online, in English, by professional external trainers.
How is the programme structured?
The programme consists of five independent, two-day thematic modules. Individual modules may be repeated, resulting in eight training editions delivered throughout 2026 and 2027.
Each module comprises 40 teaching hours, with one teaching hour corresponding to 45 minutes. Each module combines synchronous sessions with the trainer and independent self-study.
Participants may register for selected modules according to their individual needs and interests.
Workshop modules
Module 1: Effective CommunicationHow can you communicate effectively in an international academic and professional environment? During the workshop, participants will develop skills related to verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, and recognising and overcoming communication barriers. The module aims to improve participants’ ability to exchange information clearly and effectively, while developing strategies for dealing with cultural differences that influence communication styles. |
Module 2: TeamworkHow can you collaborate effectively in a multicultural team? This module focuses on developing teamwork skills, building trust, understanding team roles and solving problems collaboratively. Participants will explore practical ways of improving collaboration and building positive relationships within international teams. |
Module 3: LeadershipHow can you effectively lead a team made up of people with different experiences and cultural perspectives? This workshop focuses on developing leadership skills in a multicultural environment. Participants will explore different leadership styles, approaches to motivating teams and decision-making strategies. The module will help participants better understand how to build engagement and effectively lead an international team. |
Module 4: Time ManagementHow can you plan more effectively, set priorities and make better use of your time? During the workshop, participants will explore techniques for planning, setting priorities and reducing distractions. The module will help participants organise their work more effectively, manage multiple responsibilities and make conscious use of their time in an international and multicultural environment. |
Module 5: Negotiation & Conflict ResolutionHow can you negotiate effectively and respond constructively to conflicts? This module covers negotiation strategies, the analysis of conflict situations and basic mediation techniques. Participants will develop the skills needed to resolve conflicts, seek mutually beneficial solutions and conduct negotiations in a diverse academic and professional environment. |

About the trainer
Dr Paweł ZiemiańskiAssistant Professor at Gdańsk University of Technology, trainer and HR consultant Paweł Ziemiański has been delivering training sessions and workshops for over 10 years, focusing on communication, teamwork, public speaking, feedback, time management and stress management. He works with managers, specialists, teams and students, including in international and intercultural environments. |
