Course Type: Applied Blended Challenge (ABC) Program
These blended credit-bearing programmes use a challenge-based pedagogical approach. They involve at least one mobility week for participating students and are open to students from all ACE²-EU Alliance members. The main aim of ABCs is to allow students to work collectively on developing work plans and solutions for real-world challenges identified by external stakeholders in line with EU priority areas.

- Course components: 10 hrs synchronous online, 25 hrs onsite + 55 hrs independent/group work

Award, Credits and Certification
On successful completion of the course participants will receive 3 ECTS credits and a certificate of attendance.

Course Description and Learning Objectives
CoActEU – Law, Policies and Practices for Sustainable Societies is a 4-week Applied Blended Challenge (ABC) program combining online and face-to-face learning. Designed for students from diverse disciplines, the course introduces the EU’s approach to sustainability and empowers youth to act as agents of change in their communities.
Students will work in interdisciplinary teams to explore EU sustainability law and policies, identify local challenges, and co-design innovative solutions with universities, stakeholders, and civil society. The program culminates in project proposals that translate European sustainability strategies into practical local action.
Learning Outcomes
- Identify and critically analyse sustainability challenges in communities and disciplines.
- Collaborate with peers from diverse backgrounds and with local stakeholders.
- Co-design impactful projects linking EU policies with local practice.
- Develop transversal skills: critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, creativity, leadership, teamwork.
- Reflect on personal and professional growth as change-makers for sustainable societies.
Target Students
Open to students from ACE²-EU partner universities in fields such as Law, Political Science, Environmental Studies, Economics, Sociology, Applied Sciences, Ethics/Philosophy, Education, EU & International Policies, Urban and Regional Planning, and related areas.
