We are proud of the fact that the Medical University of Gdańsk – as the only medical university in the country – has been selected to the elite group of the top 10 best Polish universities awarded in the prestigious competition of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education “Excellence Initiative – Research University”.

Established at the Medical University of Gdańsk in 2019, the First MUG Doctoral School offers free education in three scientific disciplines:

  • medical sciences
  • pharmaceutical sciences
  • health sciences

The operation of the school is regulated by the Law on Higher Education and Science and the Regulations of the First MUG Doctoral School.

The primary duty of our doctoral school is to prepare a new generation of researchers to obtain a doctoral degree through the implementation of an educational program and an individual research plan in close collaboration with the supervisor.

We prioritize the development of competencies essential for conducting scientific research and acquiring knowledge and skills related to the subject of doctoral theses. We believe in the concept of doctoral schools functioning, which advocates for the academic and scientific growth of our doctoral students.

We support the international collaboration of our doctoral students, among other things, through education in English, which prepares them for seamless integration into the global scientific community

Doctoral students receive a doctoral scholarship amounting to:

What to do if you have a complaint?

When you come to Poland as an international student, you can expect to receive a high standard of education, and to feel safe and well cared for while you live and study here. If you have a complaint, it is important that you go through the right steps. Here is what you need to do.

Ask your University to resolve your complaint.

Additionally you can contact the Student Ombudsman.

The Student Ombudsman operates as part of the Students’ Parliament of the Republic of Poland and intervenes in cases of violations of students’ rights at universities, as well as conducts many preventive activities to increase awareness of students’ rights and qualifications. The Ombudsman for Student Rights is Mateusz Kuliński. If you need help or advice, you can contact the Ombudsman through the Office of the Student Ombudsman: helpdesk.psrp.org.pl. Mission and Statute

Modern education + research = for health and the development of medicine

Mission and Statute

Modern education and research for health and the development of medicine.

The mission is a general statement of the sense of action, the reason for the existence and development of the organisation. It shows the purpose for which the organisation was established and what value it brings to its environment.

Vision of the MUG in 2025:

We are the leading medical university in the country and recognisable in the world, providing high quality education and research.

We care about health and the development of medicine thanks to our graduates, employees and partners.

We make up a modern and efficient organisation, inspiring students, doctoral students and employees to engage and develop.

The vision is an image of the organisation in the future; it shows employees and external stakeholders the direction in which the organisation is heading. Achieving the vision will be possible through reaching objectives and endorsing strategic initiatives, which are described in the following chapter. However, the way in which they are endorsed is also important, i.e. what values we will be driven by on a daily basis. Naturally, the MUG’s culture derives primarily from timeless academic values, such as the search for truth, tolerance, justice and love of freedom.
